Munnar is a hill station located in Idukki district of Kerala state. Munnar is situated at around 1,600 metres (5,200 ft) above mean sea level, in the Western Ghats . The name Munnar is believed to mean "three rivers", referring to its location at the confluence of the Mudhirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers.
Neelakurinji
Neelakuriji blooms at the hills of Munnar after the gap of 12 years in Kerala. Blooming of Neelakurinji usually starts from August and would last up to October. The flower bloom mostly in shades of blue, and thus its name Neela in the local language meaning blue colour in english and Kurinji the local name for the flower.
Mattupetty Dam
This dam built in the mountains of Kerala, to conserve water for hydroelectricity. This is a popular picnic place. The large amount of perennially available water allows wild animals and birds to flourish. The reservoir is also known to be one of the visiting grounds of elephants in the region
Nilgiri Tahr
The Nilgiri tahr is a stocky goat with short, coarse fur and a bristly mane. Males are larger than females and of darker color when mature. Both sexes have curved horns, reaching up to 40 centimetres (16 in) for males and 30 centimeters (12 in) for females. Adult males weigh 80 to 100 kilograms (180 to 220 lb) and stand about 100 centimeters (39 in) tall at the shoulder. Adult males develop a light grey area on their backs and are thus called "saddlebacks"
Eravikulam National Park
Eravikulam National Park is the most sought after destination in Munnar. Spread over 97 sq. km., this park holds the largest viable population of Tahr, several other species of rare animals, birds and butterflies. Twenty six species of mammals have been recorded in the park including the largest surviving population of Nilgiri tahr. The other ungulates are gaur, Indian muntjac and sambar deer, Golden jackal, jungle cat, wild dog, dhole, leopard and tiger are the main predators.
Ramakkalmedu
Ramakkalmedu is a hill station on the border of Kerala and TamilNadu. It is famous for the strong winds and has a beautiful view . The name Ramakkalmedu is derived from Rama-kal-medu.

Muniyara at Munnar can be reached through a taxi or a car. The Neolithic burial chambers are a famous archeological site in Kerala and are frequented by several tourists.
Muniyara is a fascinating destination for anthropologists and archaeologists from all over the world. It has remnants of Dolmenoid cists belonging to the Megalithic age were burial chambers made of four stones placed on edges and covered by a fifth one called the cap stone. Some of these Dolmenoids contain several burial chambers, others have a quadrangle scooped out in laterite and lined on the sides with granite slabs. These are also covered with cap stones.
Top Station
Top Station got its name from the fact that it was the uppermost railway station, located in the Kundala Valley. This destination is popular for many reasons. It was also the location of the terminal railway station on the Kundala Valley Railway, built in 1902 between Munnar, Kundalai and this low point in the crest of the hills above steep cliffs. A monorail goods carriage system was initially installed along this cart route. In 1908 the monorail was replaced by a 24 inch gauge railway. Kundalai is 12 kilometers (7.5 mi) west from Top Station on the way from Munnar station. Some remains of Kundala Valley Railway can be seen at the Munnar Museum
Kundala Lake
Kundala Damt is comparatively a small dam having arch shape. Kundala is a picturesque place, about 20 km from Munnar on the way to Top Station. It is at a height of 1700 meters above sea level. In Kundala, cherry blossoms appear twice in a year in the hills and valleys around Kundala lake gives a panoramic view of the catchment area.
