1.     Lock Heart Gap
Exploring the hills of Munnar is marvelous. Numerous trekking trails, from short ones to long ones, are an attractive feature of the hill station. 2.     Photo Point
Photo point is situated at a distance of 3 kms from Munnar on the way to Mattupetty. Dense tea plantations, woods and small rivulets and rolling hills make this spot ideal for leisure travellers and nature lovers. Photo point as the name states is the most photogenic place situated near Munnar.
Photo point is also known as “Shooting Point” because of its ideal scenic beauty created by silver oak trees and green tea plantations. Photo point is an ideal spot for amateur as well as professional photographers. Surrounded by gardens, tea plantations and streams Photo point in itself appeals to be heavenly.


3.     Lakkam Waterfalls
Lakkam Waterfalls is a very popular tourist attraction which witnesses visitors year-round. Lying on the way to Marayoor from Munnar, the waterfall is set amidst dense flora and rolling hills which add to its bewitching beauty. It majestically cascades down from the rocky cliffs of the splendid Eravikulam Plateau (7300 feet above mean sea level). 4.     Pothamedu Viewpoint
Located around 6 km away from Munnar on NH 49, the Pothamedu Viewpoint is set amidst tea and coffee plantations and undulating hills. The vantage point offers a panoramic view of Munnar and adjoining valleys. It is a popular spot among trekkers, hikers and nature lovers for its pleasing scenic environs. If the atmosphere is clear, one can catch a glimpse of the Muthirapuzha River and Idukki Arch Dam, which is around 60 km away from Munnar. 



5.     Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary
An ideal place for trekking, Chinnar is located in the rainshadow region of Western Ghats and receives very less amount of rainfall every year. Due to this extensive variation of rainfall, Chinnar is blessed with a wide array of habitat types like deciduous forests, dry thorn scrub, riparian forest, shoals and grasslands. There is an extensive sandlewood forest nearby the sanctuary, which is an added attraction.



6.     Power House Falls
Power House waterfalls at Munnar in Idukki district of Kerala, is situated on the way to Thekkady from Munnar cascades down a steep rock 2000 m above sea level. The spot is enriched with the scenic western mountain ranges, and is an ideal place for a break on the way to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Thekkady.


7.     Muniyara Dolmens
Located a few kilometres from Munnar, the Muniyara Dolmens are magnificent prehistoric dolmens. Dolmens are ideally three or more stone place atop each other and a huge capstone. The Muniyara dolmens were a burial ground for the earliest inhabitants of prehistoric period. All the structures of dolmens point that they were made either during the nomadic period or even earlier.
The Muniyara Dolmen is the only remaining evidence of a tribe who revered the dead. A detail study of these tombs by archaeologist and anthropologist showcased a light on the pottery and iron metal found inside these chambers. The way leading to the Muniyara Dolmens has been beautifully crafted along the road.


8.     Pallivasal Falls
A beautiful waterfall- Pallivasal Falls is located near Devikulam. Surrounded by luxuriant flora, this waterfall serves as a perfect place for picnicking with your loved ones. Peace seekers can spend moments of repose amid the serene environs of the waterfall.

Nyayamkadu Waterfalls lies around 10 km away from the beautiful town of Munnar, on the way to Rajamalai. The gurgling water cascading from an altitude of 1600 metres, along with the rich green forest, fascinates every visitor. Besides admiring the falls, you can also indulge in fishing as well as trekking. The best time to visit the cascade is after the monsoon season which lasts from June to September.
